7月1日消息，此前消息称Windows 8.1 Update 2已经进入RTM阶段，并将于7月发布。不过最新消息显示，Windows 8.1 Update 2的确切发布时间是8月。至于Windows 8.1 Update 2的获得方式，Windows 8.1 Update 1用户可免费升级至Windows 8.1 Update 2，而Windows应用商店或提供下载。

Windows 8.1 Update 2是Windows 8.1的第二个升级包，也是微软发布Windows 9操作系统前的一个过渡产品。外媒爆料称，微软将在8月低调发布Windows 8.1 Update 2。不过由于是过渡产品，Windows 8.1 Update 2在性能上并不会给人太多惊喜，主要是UI的小规模调整，以及性能方面的细节改进。
